ASF outbreak registered in Smolensk region
SMOLENSK. August 22 (Interfax) - African swine fever (ASF) has killed several pigs in Vyazma district, Smolensk region, the Smolensk department of the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry told Interfax on Thursday.
"Two pigs died on August 21. Four more pigs were killed by bloodless means. The corpses of the six pigs were incinerated. The place where the pigs lived and the place where they were buried were disinfected," the department said.
As a result of the examination of samples taken from the dead pigs at the research institute of the Russian Agriculture Academy in the town of Pokrov, in theVladimir region, it was established that the pigs died due to an ASF infection, it said.
