Calls to influence UN SC into ordering use of force against Syrian regime unacceptable - Russian Foreign Ministry
MOSCOW. Aug 23 (Interfax) - Calls for putting pressure on the UN Security Council to order the use of force against the Syrian regime are unacceptable, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
"We find this unacceptable against the backdrop of the spiraling anti-Syrian propaganda to issue calls, some of them coming from European countries, to pressure the UN Security Council and seek to influence it into a prompt decision to order the use of force," Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich said in a statement, posted on the ministry's website.
"Indicatively, such calls are coming from those who in March denied the Syrian government's request for an immediate and objective investigation into the opposition-ordered use of chemical weapons in Khan Al Asal," Lukashevich said.
