Medvedev talks to ISS cosmonauts in linkup at MAKS air show
ZHUKOVSKY. Aug 27 (Interfax) - Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev talked to Russian cosmonauts at the International Space Station in a TV linkup at the pavilion of the federal space agency Roscosmos at MAKS air show on Tuesday.
Medvedev inquired about the cosmonauts' health and mood, and wished them success, while the cosmonauts said they were glad to learn the news about the opening of the MAKS air show.
Medvedev also viewed small-scale models of rockets, including that of the Angara carrier rocket, and discussed details of the Angara project with great interest with Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin, Kremlin chief of staff Sergei Ivanov and Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu.
Medvedev then climbed into the reentry vehicle of a manned spacecraft designed for flights to the Moon.
He proceeded to the pavilion accommodating state search centers, where he spoke with foreign scientists in English about their new projects, and viewed several small scale models of aircraft, including that of an administrative business plane. Projects under development at the Gromov Flight Research Institute were shown to Medvedev.
A representative of the BrahMos Aerospace company informed Medvedev about the BrahMos missiles intended for Sukhoi Su-30MKI fighter jets, when Medvedev was visiting foreign aircraft corporations' pavilion. After the tour Medvedev added an entry to the Guest Book. "Good luck in implementing your plans," he wrote.
The Russian prime minister also viewed the Kamov Ka-226T, AHCAT and AW130 helicopters, paying careful attention to the Ka-226T made for the Russian Emergency Situations Ministry. The helicopter is undergoing certification procedures to be completed in the beginning of 2014.
