Fire at oil refinery in Bashkortostan extinguished
UFA. Aug 28 (Interfax) - The fire at the oil refinery in Salavat has been extinguished, the press service for the regional Emergency Situations Ministry told Interfax on Wednesday.
"At 1:07 p.m. Moscow time, the fire at the reservoir of OJSC Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat's oil refinery was extinguished," the press service said.
Fifteen pieces of machinery and 15 people were involved in putting out the fire, which covered 250 square meters. There was no threat of the fire spreading, the source said.
The refinery itself confirmed that a fire had broken out at the reservoir. A special commission is currently being put together to look into the causes of the incident, a spokesman for the company said.
According to Gazprom Neftekhim Salavat, the fire did not pose any environmental threats. The refinery's technical processes are running as normal.
