Kyiv sees no reason for ceasing strategic partnership with Moscow

KYIV. Aug 28 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry sees no reason for dissolving the strategic partnership between Ukraine and Russia.

"I think relations between Ukraine and Russia, both from a historical viewpoint and a modern one, are so close: we have so many priorities in our cooperation with our neighbors that I don't even want to discuss the possibility of Ukraine and Russia not being strategic partners. I think our countries will always be strategic partners," Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Yevhen Perebyinis said in Kyiv on Wednesday.

Russian presidential advisor Sergei Glazyev suggested earlier that, by signing an association agreement with the European Union, Ukraine will stop being Russia's strategic partner and will effectively lose its status as an entity under international law.
