Baumgertner could meet with consular officials by Aug 29 - Belarus Investigative Committee
MINSK. Aug 28 (Interfax) - The Belarusian Investigative Committee could allow Russian consular employees to meet with Uralkali CEO Vladislav Baumgertner within the established deadlines, in other words by August 29.
"The investigator probing this criminal case will decide on the time of the suspect's meeting with consular employees. In accordance with the law, the meeting is to be held within three days of the Russian embassy submitting the request for it [the note was sent to the Belarusian Foreign ministry on August 26]," Belarusian Investigative Committee spokesman Pavel Traulko told Interfax on Wednesday.
The Russian embassy in Minsk told Interfax that, as of end of the day, the embassy had not received information regarding the time of the meeting of Baumgertner and consular employees.
The embassy has said that, in accordance with the Belarusian obligations, such a meeting should take place approximately by mid August 29. As of now, Baumgertner's Belarusian lawyers alone have access to him.
