Russian govt closely watching situation with Baumgartner's detention - Dvorkovich
MOSCOW. Aug 29 (Interfax) - The Russian government is closely watching the situation with the detention in Belarus of Vladislav Baumgartner, general director of JSC Uralkali, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich said.
"We still consider the current situation unacceptable. I would like to say once again that Vladislav Baumgartner arrived in Minsk for negotiations at the invitation of Prime Minister Mikhail Myasnikovich," Dvorkovich was quoted by his press service as saying.
Dvorkovich reiterated that "the Russian government had nothing to do with this scandal, but our position was that it is necessary to promote either normalization of our relations or a civilized break."
"What happened after the meeting and further developments of events, what happened after Russian citizen Vladislav Baumgartner was detained, appears to be inappropriate to say the least and is not in the spirit of partnership," Dvorkovich said.
