Armenian president discusses aid to Armenian diaspora in Syria with church hierarchs

YEREVAN. Aug 30 (Interfax) - Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan discussed the security of members of the Armenian diaspora in Syria with Catholicos Karekin II of All Armenians and Catholicos Aram I of the Holy See of Cilicia.

"Issues concerning the security of the Armenian community and of the Armenian diplomatic mission's employees amid the events surrounding Syria were discussed during a telephone conversation," the presidential press service told Interfax.

They also discussed ways to provide as much assistance as possible to members of the Armenian diaspora in Syria.

The Armenian Catholicosate of the Great House of Cilicia, also known as the Holy See of Cilicia, is headquartered in Antelias, a suburb of Beirut, Lebanon.
