New African swine fever outbreak spotted in Vladimir Region
MOSCOW. Sept 2 (Interfax) - A new outbreak of African swine fever (ASF) has been detected in the Alexandrovsky district of Vladimir Region, Russia's Federal Veterinary and Phytosanitary Oversight Service (Rosselkhoznadzor) reported.
"The remains of six wild boars felled by ASF were discovered in an enclosed forest area on the territory of the hunting business Okhotkhozyaistvo Struninskoye 2, the [game resource user] of which is CJSC Okhota," a Rosselkhoznadzor statement posted on its website Saturday says.
The primary diagnostic laboratory was established by the Vladimir Region lab and confirmed by the National Referential Laboratory for ASF (VNIIVViM, Pokrov).
Rosselkhoznadzor said a precise timeframe has yet to be established. The state of the remains suggests the animals were infected in late July or early August. Measures are being taken where the corpses were found to prevent the spread of the disease.
