Ukrainian budget deficit narrows 26.4% in July
KYIV. Sept 2 (Interfax) - Ukraine's national budget deficit narrowed 26.4% in July 2013 to UAH7.529 billion, from UAH10.229 billion in the same month of last year, the Finance Ministry said on its website.
The deficit was UAH30.27 billion in January-July. Revenue for the 7M was UAH189.849 billion, and cash spending was UAH219.867 billion, so the deficit was 14% of spending (UAH7.993/$1 on Sept. 2).
The Finance Ministry said that in the 7M, UAH39.891 billion was used to pay off public debt, including UAH19.949 billion domestic debt and UAH19.942 billion in foreign debt.
The state borrowed UAH81.179 billion, including UAH61.073 billion on the domestic market and UAH20.106 billion abroad.
According to the law on the national budget for 2013, revenues are estimated at UAH370.05 billion and spending at UAH419.338 billion. The planned deficit is UAH50.59 billion.
The Finance Ministry is planning a budget sequester after nine months if the situation with revenue continues to deteriorate.
