Russia has info on chemical weapon launch against Ghuta - Syrian ambassador

MOSCOW. Sept 3 (Interfax) - Syrian Ambassador to Russia Riyad Haddad claimed that Russia has information about when and where a missile carrying chemical agents was launched against Ghuta near Damascus on August 21.

"The evidence and data indicate that it was the armed militants that used chemical weapons in eastern Ghuta near Damascus," he told the Russian Public Chamber on Tuesday.

"Russia has provided evidence coupled with photos, which indicate the place from which and the precise time when a missile was launched against Ghuta," the Syrian ambassador said.

Haddad also denied reports that it was government forces that used chemical weapons outside Damascus.

"Is there a sensible person on Earth who would believe that the Syrian government could decide to use chemical weapons at the moment when an international commission began working and arrived in Damascus at the Syrian side's request?" the Syrian diplomat said.
