Chevron launches $40-mln pipe valve line in Atyrau

ATYRAU. Sept 3 (Interfax) - Chevron Eurasia Business Unit on Tuesday officially opened a pipe valve plant for utility services managing cold water supply, wastewater and gas distribution networks, an Interfax correspondent reported from the launch ceremony.

"Chevron supports diversification of Kazakhstan's economy through introduction of new technologies and expansion of production capacity. We believe that the plant will contribute to the development of domestic manufacturing engineering and increase of the export potential of Kazakhstan," said Scott Davis, Managing Director of Chevron Eurasia Business Unit.

The project valued at $40 million will be producing 30,000 iron valves per year.

Chevron Eurasia Business Unit headquartered in Almaty manages a 50% stake in Tengizchevroil, 18% in Karachaganak Petroleum Operating and 15% in Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC).

Chevron also operates the Atyrau Polyethylene Pipe Plant in Atyrau and is currently working on the wind farm projects in Akmola region.
