Khimprom to invest $150 mln in herbicide production

CHEBOKSARY. Sept 4 (Interfax) - Khimprom from Novocheboksarsk plans to invest $150 million to organize production of the herbicide glyphosate, the company said in a press release.

The project is currently located in the technology development stage.

Khimprom plans to produce over 20,000 tonnes of 95%-98% glyphosate concentrate a year, for sale in Russia and the CIS.

For feedstock it will use phosphorus trichloride produced by the company produces and hydrogen peroxide from new capacity scheduled for launch in 2015.

Khimprom, one of the largest chemical companies in Russia, manufactures over 100 chemical products. It is managed by CJSC Orgsintez Group.
