Lavrov tells Brahimi military action against Syria without UN sanction unacceptable

MOSCOW. Sept 4 (Interfax) - The use of force against Syria in circumvention of the United Nations is unacceptable and violates international law, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has said in a telephone conversation with UN envoy for Syria Lakhdar Brahimi.

"Lavrov stressed the unacceptability of the use of force against a sovereign state in circumvention of the UN Security Council which is a crude violation of international law," a report posted on the Foreign Ministry website on Wednesday says.
