Highly placed source confirms Surkov's possible appointment as presidential assistant

MOSCOW. Sept 6 (Interfax) - A highly placed source has confirmed to Interfax a possibly pending appointment of Vladislav Surkov as a presidential assistant.

"Yes, this [the appointment of Surkov to the presidential administration] is possible. Most probably, he will supervise economic relations with South Ossetia and Abkhazia," the source said.

Vedomosti said earlier with the reference to its sources that Surkov might take the position of the presidential assistant for socioeconomic relations with Abkhazia and South Ossetia.

The position is currently occupied by Tatiana Golikova.
