Syrian Kurds want to take part in Geneva-2
MOSCOW. Sept 6 (Interfax) - The Kurds have their own idea about how the Syrian problem should be solved and Kurdish parties want to be a part of the Geneva-2 conference, pro-Kurdish Democratic Union Party co-leader Asya Abdullah said in an interview with the Voice of Russia radio.
She is staying in the Turkish city of Diyarbakir, the unofficial capital city of the Turkish Kurdistan, for consultations with the local Kurds.
"We keep saying that the use of force is driving the Syrian situation into a deadlock. It does not matter who is doing that: the government, the opposition or external forces. The Geneva-2 conference is the optimal platform for searching for ways out of the conflict," the Kurdish party leader said.
She has reaffirmed the wish of the Syrian Kurdish parties to attend the Geneva-2 conference. "We are ready to present our vision of the Syrian settlement at the conference," Abdullah said.
"Our party wants dialogue to be the main way of solving any problem. Any problem should be resolved peacefully. Since the very start of the disturbances in Syria we have been maintaining dialogue with all conflicting sides and building our relationships with regional and world actors interested in searching for ways out of the Syrian crisis," the Kurdish politician said.
The Democratic Union co-chairperson noted that the Syrian Kurds should be represented at the conference by the Kurdish Supreme Committee in Syria. "The Kurdish Supreme Committee is precisely the representative of the Syrian Kurds. All the political parties are its members. Some of our partners are trying to make decisions on behalf of Syrian Kurds in evasion of the Supreme Committee. We are opposed to that policy. We think that any Kurdish party or alliance has the right to carry out their own dialogue but all the agreements need authorization of the Supreme Committee," Abdullah said.
