Abkhaz president kept updated on probe into Russian diplomat killing
SUKHUMI. Sept 9 (Interfax) - Abkhaz President Alexander Ankvab said that the murder of a Russian diplomat in Sukhumi was an outrage.
"It is a outrageous incident. I have just talked with the interior minister, prosecutor general and national security chief and they briefed me on the incident," he told the press.
Diplomat Dmitry Vishernev was killed in his car at about 9 a.m. His wife was seriously wounded, he said.
"I don't know what the killer was after, but this does not bode well," the Abkhaz president said.
"Theories will be proposed, which must be carefully studied. Details will be released later," Ankvab said.
He said investigators "have a description of the killer."
"I will not speak about what the killer looked like for now. But we know in what direction he was moving and what his plan was," he said.
