Russia calls for drafting SCO strategy until 2025
MOSCOW. Sept 9 (Interfax) - Russia has proposed that the final declaration of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Bishkek summit include a decision to begin drafting a SCO strategy and development plan for the period until 2025, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Igor Morgulov said.
"We have issued instructions for SCO foreign ministries to begin drafting a SCO strategy and development plan for the period until 2025," he told a press briefing in Moscow on Monday.
This will be a large, conceptual document aimed at defining tasks for the phased improvement of the SCO activities, he said.
"Russia is ready to take charge of the elaboration of such a strategic, conceptual document with the purpose of its adoption at the 2015 SCO summit, which, as you know, our country will host," the diplomat said.
