Killer of Russian diplomat in Sukhumi did not cover his face - prosecutor
SUKHUMI. Sept 10 (Interfax) - The Abkhazian police have made a facial composite of the suspected killer of Russian diplomat Dmitry Vishernev according to the descriptions given by eyewitnesses, Sukhumi prosecutor Alisa Bigvava told Interfax on Tuesday.
"We think that the killer was alone; the attack was defiant and he did not try to cover his face or camouflage himself," the prosecutor said.
Reportedly, "the killer is Slavic, with bangs low over his forehead and the hair cut short in the back. This is the description given by the majority of eyewitnesses who saw the suspected killer," Bigvava said.
The model of the shooter's handgun has not yet been identified. "There will be a ballistic examination of the shells found at the crime scene and the bullet retrieved from the deceased man's body," the prosecutor said.
"The handmade bomb [found on the crime scene] was made out of a small fire extinguisher and a cell phone," she said.
"Members of the Abkhazian emergency situations department's bomb squad disarmed the explosive," she said.
"The device will be transferred to Russia in order to identify the explosive substances, calculate the bomb's power and search for fingerprints," Bigvava said.
The Russian diplomat was shot dead in his official car in Sukhumi on Monday morning. His wife was wounded.
