Four ex-soldiers convicted for looting at Apr 2010 Polish presidential plane crash scene

SMOLENSK. Sept 11 (Interfax) - The Smolensk Garrison Military Court has found former soldiers Sergei Syrov, Igor Pustovar, Yury Sankov and Artur Pankratov guilty of stealing bank cards and an attempt to steal money belonging to a member of the Polish delegation killed in a plane crash near Smolensk's Severny (Northern) airport in April 2010.

The court sentenced Syrov to 2 years in a general security penitentiary, and the man was taken into custody in the courtroom. Pustovar and Sankov received 2-year prison sentences, which were suspended for 2 years, and Pankratov received 1 year and 8 months in prison, a sentence that was also suspended for 2 years, an Interfax correspondent reported from the courthouse.
