Rebels may use chemical weapons against Israel as provocation - Assad
MOSCOW. Sept 12 (Interfax) - The rebels in Syria may use chemical weapons against Israel as a provocation, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad said.
"It has absolutely not been ruled out that this information is true and is used for the purposes stated earlier," he said during an interview with Rossiya 24 television responding to a question as to whether he has confirmation of the information that has been circulated by the Russian media saying that terrorists in Syria may use chemical weapons against Israel.
The Syrian president said that "it has been confirmed that the chemical substances have already been supplied to terrorist groups and they were used against our soldiers in Syria and against civilians, and that means that such substances are available."
"On the other hand, everyone knows that these terrorist gangs and those who run them are trying to incite an attack by the United States. They previously tried to involve Israel in the conflict in Syria," Assad said.
