SCO should keep its doors open to new members - Putin
BISHKEK. Sept 13 (Interfax) - The issue of welcoming new countries into the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) should be considered carefully, but work in this direction should continue, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.
At the meeting of the Council of the Heads of State of the SCO countries, Putin pointed out that the openness of the organization should be demonstrated in actual practice and the issue of admitting new members should be considered.
"I agree with those who believe that we should act carefully, without haste, but work in this direction, in my view, can and should continue," he said.
