Car explosion kills policeman in Ingushetia
NAZRAN. Sept 16 (Interfax) - A car blew up while being chased by police in the village of Nesterovskaya, Sunzhen district of Ingushetia, killing one policeman and wounding another, the press service for Ingushetia's Interior Ministry told Interfax.
"The police tried to block the path of a VAZ-2107, which is believed to have brought a suicide bomber carrying a belt stuffed with explosives to the district interior affairs department, on the motorway leading from the village of Nesterovskaya around 1:00 p.m. Moscow time. However, the men who were in the car opened fire on the police. The car was blown up during the shootout," the source said.
A district police officer was killed by the blast. Another policeman was wounded. The criminals who were in the car were killed instantly. Their number cannot yet be determined given that the car was torn to pieces by the blast.
On Monday morning, a man carrying a gun and a belt stuffed with explosives came to the building of the Sunzhen district police office in the village of Ordzhonikidzevskaya, Ingushetia.
This automobile explosion was the second such accident to occur in the Northern Caucasus on Monday: a terrorist attack occurred near the building of the Interior Ministry's department for the Sunzhen district of the Chechen Republic around 1:50 a.m. Moscow time. An unidentified driver driving a VAZ-21015 tried to break into the territory of the Sunzhen district interior affairs office. An on-duty police officer was suspicious of the car, so he blocked the vehicle's way with an obstacle, and prevented the terrorist from driving into the district interior affairs office. After that, the suicide bomber detonated his explosive device.
The explosion killed three police officers and wounded five.
