Rostov NPP boosts power output 11.5% in 8M

ROSTOV-ON-DON. Sept 16 (Interfax) - The Rostov nuclear power plant generated 11.245 billion kWh of electric power in January-August this year, 11.5% more than the 10.088 billion kWh it did during the same period last year, the NPP's public information center said.

The NPP produced 1.504 billion kWh of power last month alone, 16.7% over plan. The ratio of installed capacity usage was 101.13% against a targeted 86.69%, the company said.

Russia's Federal Tariff Service (FTS) has set for the power plant the target of generating 15.985 billion kWh of power this year, 8.5% more than last year.

The NPP is located 13.5 kilometers from Volgodonsk beside the Tsimlyan Reservoir. Its first generating block was put into use in 2001 and its second in early 2010. The third and fourth units are being built.
