Azerbaijani refineries boost production 7% in 8M

BAKU. Sept 17 (Interfax) - Oil refineries in Azerbaijan increased output 7.2% year-on-year in January-August 2013, the country's state statistics committee told Interfax.

There was 9.2% more automotive gasoline produced, 927,900 tonnes in all, 11.7% more kerosene, 478,800 tonnes, 8.8% more diesel fuel, 1.689 million tonnes, and 9% more petroleum bitumen, 208,500 tonnes.

On the other hand, there was 14.6% less straight-run gasoline produced, 96,900 tonnes, and 35.1% less lubricating oil, 30,500 tonnes.

Azerbaijan has two oil refineries - Azerneftyag and Baku Oil Refinery - which have a combined refining capacity of 22 million tonnes a year. Both refineries are part of State Oil Company of the Azerbaijani Republic (SOCAR).
