EU calls Russian pressure on Ukraine over Association Agreement impermissible
YALTA. Sept 20 (Interfax) - Russian pressure on Ukraine over the signing of the Ukraine-EU Association Agreement is impermissible, European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy Stefan Fule told a press conference at the 10th Yalta annual meeting on Friday.
He said they had discussed Russia's pressure and deemed it impermissible. He also said that they supported Ukraine, which must be given the right to make independent decisions.
EU member states and the European Parliament displayed their solidarity on that issue, the commissioner noted.
He added that the pressure coming from Russia was not a reason to lower the Association Agreement standards for Ukraine.
The EU will not alleviate its demands now will it abandon the conditions it set in December 2012, Fule said.
