SCO RATS fostering intl anti-terrorism cooperation
YAROSLAVL. Sept 22 (Interfax) - The Council of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure (RATS) has approved a draft protocol between the RATS and the Turkish police and the establishment of contacts with the African Union's African Center for the Study and Research on Terrorism (ACSRT), Russian Federal Security Service First Deputy Director Sergei Smirnov said.
"The decisions were made with the purpose of broadening international anti-terrorism cooperation," he told reporters after the RATS Council session on Friday.
A draft border cooperation agreement between SCO member states and regulations on joint operations of SCO border services were endorsed.
The Council also approved cooperation in monitoring and blocking of movements of would-be terrorists to high terrorism risk regions.
