RZD to buy bainitic steel rails from Voestalpine, looking to Evraz to supply

MOSCOW. Sept 24 (Interfax) - Russian Railways (RZD) plans to buy rails made from bainitic steel in Austria, but is counting on Russian companies to supply them in future.

"We will buy rails made from bainitic steel for an experiment in Austria from Voestalpine. We would like Russian companies to produce these high-strength rails," RZD senior vice president Valentin Gapanovich said in an interview with RZD's corporate television channel.

RZD is counting on working with the Evraz Group in this area, Gapanovich said.
