Eighty integrated structures to appear in Russian defense industry - official
NIZHNY TAGIL. Sept 27 (Interfax-AVN) - Measures to form large integrated companies in the Russian defense industry should be completed within the next five years, Oleg Bochkaryov, chairman of the Russian government's Military-Industrial Commission, said.
"More than 60 integrated structures are already functioning in the defense sector. It should take us five years at the most to complete this integration, after which all of the defense enterprises will be part of different integrated structures. A total of 80 integrated structures will be created," Bochkaryov told Interfax-AVN on the sidelines of a weapons exhibition in Nizhny Tagil.
"Defense industry enterprises are being augmented today. We are merging them into one entity to which the same management solutions will be applied. This will allow us to tackle all of the tasks facing this sector more effectively and with better results," he said.
The Kalashnikov Concern was established recently, he said.
Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin said at the Nizhny Tagil exhibition that another three integrated companies - a United Space Rocket Corporation, an automated communications control and reconnaissance systems (ASU) holding and an aerospace defense concern (VKO) - could appear soon.
When asked which enterprises would make up the ASU holding and the VKO concern, Bochkaryov said that these issues were currently being discussed.
"But there is a high degree of certainty that the automated communications control and reconnaissance systems holding will include Sozvezdiye and Vega. This kind of integration will take place today," he said.
"But the aerospace defense concern is a totally different story. We will not name any companies for now, because VKO is quite a specific topic. We will tell you everything when the time is right," Bochkaryov said.
A top priority of the VKO concern idea is to promote technological cooperation between all general and chief designers in this sector, he said.
"I am also speaking about supersonic technology. That is why we need new sorts of fuel and new control systems," he said.
"It will not be just another integrated structure. Steps to create it are already being taken," Bochkaryov said.
