Moscow says mortar attacks on foreign embassies in Syria on Sept 22, 26 are terrorist attacks

MOSCOW. Sept 27 (Interfax) - The Russian Foreign Ministry said it urged countries that have influence over the armed Syrian opposition to use it in order to immediately stop raids of terrorists who pose threats to the safety of foreign embassies in Syria.

"It is notable that the embassies, which sustained the attacks, represent the countries, which consistently support peaceful political resolution of the Syrian crisis and are opposed to foreign force interference. All this suggests that the mortar attacks on September 22 and 26 were intentional and gives ground to qualify them as terrorist attacks," the Russian Foreign Ministry quoted Information and Press Department Deputy Director Maria Zakharova as saying amid the mortar attack on the consular office of the Iraqi embassy in Damascus.
