NEW YORK. Sept 27 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said he urged world countries to give up the complex of exclusiveness and superiority of own customs in the human rights sphere.
"It is necessary to give up the complex of exclusiveness and superiority of your own customs and follow universal criteria stipulated in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights," Lavrov said when speaking at the 68th UN General Assembly meeting on Friday.
"At that, it is important to respect traditional values common to all world religions," Lavrov said.
It is necessary now to enhance democratic base not only within the country but in international relations as well, the minister said.
"This means, in particular, that acknowledging the right of nations to determine their destiny themselves, to choose optimal forms of the public and political organization and social and economic systems should be an integral part of behavior," Lavrov said.
