Russians will be among OPCW Syria inspectors - top Russian diplomat
MOSCOW. Oct 1 (Interfax) - Russian specialists will certainly work in Syria within a group of experts from the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) and will actively contribute to every stage of the program to destroy Syria's chemical weapons stockpiles.
"This will certainly happen. I am not sure about the lead group, but we will take an active part in this entire operation," Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov told reporters, answering a question from Interfax.
Bogdanov said he did not know whether Russian specialists would be included in the group of experts due to leave for Syria on October 1.
"I do not know. Maybe some [Russian representatives] are going there," he said.
The exact number of Russian specialists who will be involved in all the stages of the Russian-U.S. initiative has not yet been clarified, Bogdanov said.
