Women in Mordovia colony work overtime voluntarily - FSIN public council
MOSCOW. Oct 2 (Interfax) - The administration of the Mordovia colony where Nadezhda Tolokonnikova, a member of the feminist punk group Pussy Riot, is serving her sentence, allows some convicts to work overtime in order to make more money," Boris Sushkov, deputy head of the public council of the Federal Service for the Enforcement of Punishments (FSIN), said.
"Some female convicts indeed do work overtime. The administration of the colony allows them to do that in order to make more money," Sushkov told a meeting of the council in Moscow.
"They should be thanked for that," he said.
Maria Kannabikh, a member of the council, who has visited Penal Colony No.14, has confirmed that some convicts have told her they have voluntarily worked overtime.
"As to Tolokonnikova, she has never worked for more than eight hours," Kannabikh said.
