Russia may give Bangladesh new loan in 2015 for NPP

DHAKA. Oct 2 (Interfax) - Russia may allocate a new easy loan to Bangladesh in 2015 for construction of the Ruppur Nuclear Power Plant, Sergei Novikov, an official spokesman for Russian state nuclear power corporation Rosatom, told the press.

The amount of the new loan will be determined after a draft technical plan has been compiled, which may be ready in October 2015. A contract for the plan was signed Wednesday.

After that, a decision will be made about a second loan and terms will be determined during talks between the two countries' finance ministries.

Such a plant with over 2,000 megawatt capacity might cost around $10 billion, Novikov said.

Russia has already approved an easy loan of $500 million for Bangladesh. The money is for justification of the investment and compilation of a draft technical plan as well as preliminary construction work.
