Moscow has info certain official reps of Syrian neighbors maintain contact with Jabhat al-Nusra - Lavrov

MOSCOW. Oct 2 (Interfax) - Certain officials of some Middle Eastern countries maintain contact with representatives of the Jabhat al-Nusra terrorist organization operating in Syria, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.

"We read reports and hear from various sources, semi-official and trustworthy, that some official representatives of a number of the countries of the region surrounding Syria allegedly established contacts and meet regularly with leaders of Jabhat al-Nusra and other terrorist groups," Lavrov said at a news conference following talks with Indian Foreign Minister Salman Khurshid.

These reports say that "the radicals already have components of chemical weapons - either found somewhere in Syria or brought from somewhere, not in Syria alone - but these components have already been brought to Iraq and some provocations are being prepared there," Lavrov said.

"And these reports are from the past few days and all of this has intensified after the UN Security Council resolution on chemical disarmament in Syria and the necessity to call the Geneva 2 [international conference on Syria] was passed over the Russian-U.S. initiative," Lavrov said.
