Putin congratulates Gauck, Merkel on German Unity Day

MOSCOW. Oct 3 (Interfax) - Russian President Vladimir Putin has sent congratulatory messages to German President Joachim Gauck and Federal Chancellor Angela Merkel on the occasion of the Day of German Unity.

Putin pointed out the active development of amicable relations between Russia and Germany in all important spheres, the broadening of the political dialogue and the increase in economic, scientific, technological and humanitarian cooperation, and lauded the Russian Year in Germany and the German Year in Russia, the presidential press service reports.

"The president expressed confidence that the policy towards bolstering the Russian-German strategic partnership would be continued by the new German government and topical issues of further advancement of bilateral contacts and interaction in global affairs would be analyzed closely at the Russian-German top-level interstate consultations due later this year," the Kremlin said.
