Greenpeace intends to send complaint to ECHR on detention of Arctic Sunrise environmentalists on Oct 9
MOSCOW. Oct 7 (Interfax) - The first complaint to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) regarding the detention of Greenpeace activists in the Pechora Sea could be filed this week, Greenpeace Russia program director Ivan Blokov said at a news conference in the central office of Interfax.
"A complaint on the illegal nature of the detention will be filed with the ECHR the day after a decision on the appeal is returned, so the first complaints regarding this are likely to be filed with the European Court [of Human Rights] the day after tomorrow," Blokov said.
The first appeal will be considered on October 8, Blokov said.
"As to the remaining aspects, I do not take it upon myself to name an exact date but it is a matter of three to five days, so this is not a matter of weeks, these are coming days. There are quite important things here because many have been detained and some things should be discussed by lawyers so that the wording does not vary a lot. So this could take two to three days, not more," Blokov said.
