Azeri leader hopes Nagorno-Karabakh conflict will be resolved without bloodshed

BAKU. Oct 8 (Interfax) - Ongoing geopolitical changes will eventually force Armenia to lift its occupation of the Azeri territories and the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan will be restored by peaceful methods, Azeri President Ilham Aliyev said.

"Our economy is at least ten times stronger than Armenia's. We have also managed to secure a lead in the military sphere. It is just that the geopolitical situation and the processes taking place in the region today currently call on us to hold peace talks. We hope that these negotiations will be productive, and that Armenia, having thoroughly analyzed and having come to terms with today's realities, would agree to leave the foreign territories, thus leading to the restoration of Azerbaijan's territorial integrity without bloodshed," Aliyev said at a cabinet session.

Azerbaijan has already become a key international player, he said.

"I am hopeful that it will send a very serious signal to the Armenian leadership that settling this conflict as soon as possible will benefit them as well," he said.

Azerbaijan will continue its efforts to find a fair solution to the conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh, he added.
