Ukraine welcomes Russia's intention to hold consultations before signing association agreement with EU
KYIV. Oct 8 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry welcomes Russian President Vladimir Putin's statement to the effect that Moscow and Kyiv will hold consultations on a government level before Ukraine signs an association agreement with the European Union.
"The Ukrainian side has repeatedly proposed to the Russian side that they hold appropriate consultations in a tripartite format to resolve the issues and dispel concerns that Russia has regarding the signature of an association agreement and the establishment of a free trade area with the European Union. We have the feeling that the Russian side has heard these proposals," Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Yevhen Perebyinis said at a news conference.
He pointed out that Putin declared Russia's intention to hold such consultations with Ukraine.
The format and parameters of the consultations with Russia have not yet been determined, and relevant Ukrainian bodies are working on this now, he said.
