SCM replaces supervisory board at Ukrtelecom

KYIV. Oct 9 (Interfax) - The former head of Ukraine's State Special Communications and Information Security Service, Leonid Netudykhata has been elected chairman of the supervisory board of Ukrtelecom, the largest Ukrainian fixed telecom and 3G mobile operator, the company's former interim CEO Igor Kravets told reporters.

A new supervisory board at Ukrtelecom, of which the SCM Holding acquired control on October 4, was elected at a shareholder meeting on Tuesday. The new board also includes SCM Advisors managing director Ilya Arkhipov; SCM's director for media business development Katerina Lapshina; Lyudmila Pavlenko, chief legal consultant at law firm Voropayev and Partners; and LLC Astelit supervisory board chairman Stewart Reich.

Ukrtelecom's new supervisory board decided to eliminate the management board as a management body at the company, and dismissed all management board members, including Kravets.

Kravets said he is returning to the company as of October 9 in the position of deputy director for marketing.

He said the supervisory board should appoint a CEO soon. There are also plans to draft a development strategy for the company.

Rinat Akhmetov's SCM Holding closed a deal in early October to buy UA Telecominvest Limited (Cyprus) from the EPIC group (Austria). UA Telecominvest owns 100% of Ukrainian company LLC ESU, which in turn owns 92.79% of Ukrtelecom.

SCM also owns telecom group VEGA, a 45% stake in the country's third largest mobile operator Astelit, and MMDS, which holds WiMAX licenses.
