Exit polls: incumbent Ilham Aliyev sweeps Azerbaijan presidential election
BAKU. Oct 9 (Interfax) - Exit polls suggest incumbent Ilham Aliyev has received 80.8% of votes at Wednesday's presidential election in Azerbaijan.
Camil Hasanli, who represents the opposition National Council of Democratic Forces, won 10.55% of the vote, according to exit polls at 400 polling stations carried out by independent sociological research center ELS.
Parliament deputy Qudrat Hasanquliyev, leader of the United Popular Front Party, mustered 2.81%. The result of another member of parliament, Umid (Hope) party leader Iqbal Agazade, was 1.88%.
The other six candidates, three of whom are parliament deputies, received less than 1% each, according to the results of the exit polls, announced by ELS at a news conference.
National Renaissance Movement leader Farac Quliyev won 0.88% and Social Democratic leader Araz Alizade 0.72%.
Adalat (Justice) party leader Ilyas Ismaylov and self-nominee Zahid Oruc received 0.65% each. Democratic Party leader Sardar Mammadov (Sardar Calaloglu) got 0.63%, and Modern Musavat leader Hafiz Haciyev 0.43%.
ELS put the turnout at 72.3%.
