Russian railways haul 3.2% less freight in 9M

MOSCOW. Oct 11 (Interfax) - Russia's railways carried 1.039 billion tonnes of freight in January-September, 3.2% less than in the same period of last year, rail monopoly Russian Railways (RZD) said in materials, seen by Interfax.

Domestic shipments fell 3.6% year-on-year to 629.6 million tonnes, exports - 2.8% to 299.6 million tonnes, imports - 1.5% to 86 million tonnes and transit - 5.7% to 24.2 million tonnes.

Shipments via Russian ports fell 2.2% year-on-year to 179.6 million tonnes, and shipments via border crossings were down 3.1% to 230.2 million tonnes.
