Quadra in talks with independent gas producers to replace Gazprom

MOSCOW. Oct 11 (Interfax) - OJSC Quadra is holding negotiations with independent gas producers, the power company's CEO, Vladimir Shelkov told reporters on Friday.

At present, Quadra's only gas supplier is Gazprom , a five-year contract with which was signed in 2012. The company has already held negotiations with independent suppliers in the past.

"We held negotiations, their price was higher. Now we've asked again, if the price will be more competitive perhaps we'll consider options," Shelkov said, adding that supplies from Gazprom could theoretically be replaced with supplies from independent producers. The company has the option to reconsider the contract, he said.

"We asked everyone, but Rosneft has said that all of its gas is contracted to 2017," Shelkov said.

Quadra has 25 combined heat-and-power plants in eleven regions in Central Russia with total capacity of about 3.7 GW. It also operates 357 boiler houses and 5,054.5 kilometers of heat networks. Mikhail Prokhorov's Onexim Group is the company's principal shareholder.
