Sobyanin vows to fight crimes committed by illegal migrant workers
MOSCOW. Oct 16 (Interfax) - The Moscow authorities will continue to fight crimes perpetrated by illegal migrant workers, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said in his annual address to the Moscow City Duma.
'The alert of the police and the migration service is not a fleeting campaign, which will stop at some point. The suppression of ethnic crime, the detection of illegal migrant workers, the prevention of their crimes and the deportation of unwelcome elements from Moscow will continue," Sobyanin said on Wednesday.
In his words, the Moscow police opened 650 criminal cases this year on the counts of illegal migration, which surpassed last year's indicators.
"Some 650 criminal cases were opened this year on the counts of fostering illegal migration. Less than two dozens cases of the kind were opened last year," the mayor said.
