Party of Regions ready to support opposition's bill to allow convicted Tymoshenko to be treated abroad

KYIV. Oct 18 (Interfax) - Deputies of the Party of Regions faction will not submit bills related to former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko going to Germany for treatment but will be ready to support the opposition's initiative for this.

"The only law, which has been registered in Verkhovna Rada, is from out-of-faction deputy Serhiy Myshchenko. As far as I know, there are no other bills," deputy of the Party of Regions Volodymyr Oleynyk said in an interview with Interfax when asked whether the parliament had bills allowing Tymoshenko to go abroad for treatment and whether he was aware of such bills.

Such bills could appear in Verkhovna Rada in the short term, Oleynyk said.

"I personally think that such an initiative should come from the opposition deputies. If the opposition deputies draft such a bill and are ready to support it with votes, then we are ready to support it and to give additional votes so that there are 226," the deputy said.

The Party of Regions will be ready to endorse such a bill "only on one condition - this bill should not contradict the main principles of the Constitution," Oleynyk said.
