Russia intends to increase its presence on South American weapons market - Shoigu
MOSCOW. Oct 21 (Interfax) - Russia and Brazil have good prospects of expanding their military-technical cooperation, including in the sphere of fifth-generation planes construction, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu told reporters on Saturday.
"We and our Brazilian colleagues continue doing what our president and prime minister began: expansion of our military-technical cooperation. The range of issues here is very broad, ranging from air defense systems to fifth-generation planes using the developments our countries already have," Shoigu said.
Speaking about the prospects of strengthening Russia's presence on the South American weapons market, Shoigu said the offers voiced by Russia in Peru and Brazil are not worse than the offers made by other countries.
"Why should Russia stand aside? Our industry is developing dynamically. We used to say that we used the work done in the past, but now we can say that it's not only work done in the past," Shoigu said.
