Shoigu to partake in Russia-NATO Council session in Brussels
MOSCOW. Oct 23 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian Defense Minister General of the Army Sergei Shoigu will meet with NATO colleagues at a session of the Russia-NATO Council in Brussels on Wednesday.
"The sides will discuss European security, suppression of international terrorism and development of relations between Russia and the North Atlantic Alliance," Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov said.
Shoigu will also have a number of bilateral meetings. He will meet with NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen, British Secretary of State for Defense Philip Hammond, Italian Defense Minister Mario Mauro and U.S. Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel.
"This is the first visit of Sergei Shoigu to the NATO headquarters. The Russia-NATO Council had its latest meeting in June 2011," Konashenkov said.
