Federal Customs Service collects 5.11 trln rubles for budget
MOSCOW. Oct 23 (Interfax) - Russia's Federal Customs Service (FCS) has already transferred to the budget 5.11 trillion rubles of a targeted 6.33 trillion rubles for 2013, the service's chief Andrei Belyaninov said during a press conference.
"If it is broken down by month, we have a little more [than was planned for this moment]," Belyaninov said.
The FCS said it transferred 4.728 trillion rubles to the budget in January-September, just a little over the amount it did in the same period last year (4.726 trillion rubles).
Customs agencies provided the budget with 570.33 billion rubles last month alone. It was 540.83 billion rubles the month before.
Belyaninov was more restrained in his estimates of customs collections in September. "You know, I would not be very optimistic because we are observing a drop in the volume of imports into Russia and in weight characteristics and, of course, in cost. So when it comes to administration of imports, this is very serious work for us," he said last month.
Imports to Russia dropped a little over the summer, he said at the time. This was especially evident in the volume of vehicle imports. "Partly this is objectively due to domestic production, but the service's job becomes more complicated. We need to look very carefully at imports as a whole, because we do after all have a plan [of custom payments to the budget] that needs to be met every year," he said.
The budget received 6.581 trillion rubles last year, 0.4% more than targeted and roughly 9.1% more than in 2011 (6.03 trillion rubles).
