Interior Minister says number of terrorist attacks down in Russia in past few years

MOSCOW. Oct 23 (Interfax) - The number of terrorist attacks in Russia decreased two times in the past three years thanks to the determined work of the law enforcement authorities, Russian Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev said.

"We are always trying to work in advance and this work has had certain results - the number of terrorist attacks decreased two-fold in Russia in the past three years, including amid joint work with the Federal Security Service," Kolokoltsev said at a State Duma meeting on Wednesday.

The work to prevent such crimes is "of long-term and intense character," Kolokoltsev said. "We will try to act in advance but it is impossible to do everything at once, the issue is too complicated," he said.
