Uzbek president to attend CIS summit in Minsk
TASHKENT. Oct 24 (Interfax) - Uzbek President Islam Karimov will take part in an October 24-25 session of the CIS Heads of State Council in the Belarusian capital Minsk, a spokesman for Karimov's administration told Interfax on Wednesday.
It was announced earlier that Uzbek Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kaminov had already arrived in Minsk.
The Uzbek Foreign Ministry reported that Kamilov and Belarusian Foreign Minister Vladimir Makeyev had met on October 23 to discuss the prospects for further promoting bilateral cooperation, the political dialogue between the two countries and their contacts in international affairs.
Ways to boost trade and business ties between Uzbekistan and Belarus following the restoration of the two countries' intergovernmental commission for bilateral cooperation were addressed as well.
